Do you know where alpaca wool comes from and how it is obtained?

Did you know?

Why alpaca wool and how is it obtained?

Alpaca wool is one of the special and sustainable types of wool that is not only ecological but also extremely functional. Thanks to the unique structure of the fibers, which are hollow on the inside, this wool offers excellent temperature regulation. Alpaca wool socks are therefore ideal for optimally storing both heat and cold - perfect for any weather.

The wool is obtained by shearing the animals. Reputable breeders make this process as stress-free as possible. After shearing, the wool is carefully washed, dried and then spun into a fine yarn.

There are two main types of alpacas: the Huacaya and the Suri. They differ in the structure of their fur. While the Huacaya alpaca has a uniform, slightly curly fiber, the Suri alpaca has smooth, stringy hair without curls.

Alpacas belong to the camel family and their fur varies in a natural range of colors from white to shades of gray and various shades of brown. These hardy animals can live up to 30 years and are sheared several times throughout their lives.

In short: Alpaca wool is not only sustainable, but also ensures that your feet stay warm in winter and pleasantly cool in summer - a perfect choice for high-quality socks!
